PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a composition for producing foam capable of exhibiting excellent foaming property and moldability, and suitable for foaming by adding a specific foaming, nucleating agent and a foaming aid to a biodegradable polylactic acid-based resin in a specific ratio. SOLUTION: This composition contains (A) 100 pts.wt. polylactic acid-based resin, (B) 0.1-5.0 pts.wt. inorganic foaming, nucleating agent (pref. talc) having 1-10μm average particle diameter, (C) 0.1-10 pts.wt. decomposition-type blowing agent (e.g. an inorganic blowing agent such as sodium bicarbonate, an organic blowing agent such as azodicarbonamide) and (D) 0.01-0.5 pts.wt. foaming aid (pref. a stearic acid-based compound or montanoic acid). The composition is melt-kneaded, and a polylactic acid-based foam or sheet both improved in foaming property is obtained. Molded foam has uniform cell diameter and is improved in foaming property.
