PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal continuously variable transmission for a vehicle capable of ensuring a stating characteristic after towing. SOLUTION: When a vehicle with engine stopped is towed or moved in a zigzag way, an output disk may rotate in accordance with the rotation of driving wheels, the friction of an input side may be exerted on the contact part of a power roller 44FL as an external force and a trunnion 46FL may be displaced by this external force F1 and a servo piston 78FL may be stroked to a position with the gear ratio of for instance, a High side. However, when a first disk spring 100 provided in a second oil chamber 90b generates an elastic restoring force to prevent the servo piston 78FL from being stroked to the position with the gear ratio of the High side. Even when the vehicle is towed forward or moved forward in a zigzag way, the servo piston 78FL is prevented from being stroked to the position with the gear ratio of the High side to completely improve a performance upon restarting the vehicle.
