PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new acrylic acid derivative having excellent agricultural and horticultural germicidal efficacious. SOLUTION: This compound is represented by formula I R1 is A1-ON=CA2 [A1 and A2 are each a (substituted)alkyl, a (substituted)alkenyl, a (substituted) cycloalkyl or the like] or the like; R2 and R3 are each a (substituted)alkyl; one of T, U and V is CR4; another is CH or N and the remaining groups are each CR5 or N; W is CR44 or N (R4, R5 and R44 are each H, a halogen, an alkyl, an alkoxy or the like); X is NR6 [R6 is a (substituted)alkyl], O or S; Y is O}, e.g. methyl 2-[5-benzyloxyiminoethyl)-2-methylphenoxyl]-3- methylthioacrylate. The compound represented by formula I is obtained by reacting a compound represented by formula II with a sulfonic acid derivative in the presence of a base in a solvent, preferably at -80 to +100 deg.C, proving a compound represented by formula III (R7 is methanesulfonyl or the like) and then reacting the compound represented by formula III with a thiol compound in the presence of a base in a solvent.
