PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to introduce prestress to a convertible car body capable of improving fitting of a door by lessening influences to vehicle performance. SOLUTION: A convertible car body 28 is manufactured by cutting respective required points of a roof 24, a front pillar 20 and a center pillar 22 by maintaining a completed car body 26 at a specified level from a working surface 30. The convertible car body 28 is fixed on the working surface 30 by two points 38 with an interval before and after them after the convertible car body 28 is manufactured. An upward load F is applied to the convertible car body 28 between the fixing points of the fixed convertible car body 28 and between the front pillar 20 and the center pillar 22 of the convertible car body 28. Thereafter, the required points of the convertible car body are reinforced 44, 46, 48 by maintaining a state to apply the load.
