PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily align a hook catch with the opening of a housing compartment at the time of fixing a lid, and to hold good appearance by surely matching the designing surfaces of the front end part of the lid and the front upper end of the housing compartment with each other. SOLUTION: In a housing box 3 constructed in such a manner that the instrument panel 1 of an automobile is provided with a recessed housing compartment 5 and a lid 6 for covering the housing compartment 5 to allow its free opening/ closing, a hook catch 8 bulged forward and having its tip bent upward is formed in the backside of the front end part 7 of the lid 6, and the tip of the hook catch 8 is put through an opening 10 formed in the upper side of the front face part 9 of the housing compartment 5, inserted into the panel 1 and hooked in a stopper 1 so as to be prevented from being displaced, a guide rib 18 having a receiving seat 17 is provided so as to be disposed adjacently to the car width direction edge of the opening 10, place the front end part 7 of the lid 6 on its upper end and support the same at a proper height.
