PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and accurately specify the defect-generating source of an oven for melting glass. SOLUTION: This method for specifying the dissolution defect-generating source of an oven for melting glass comprises (S1) determining a glass raw material-flowing field in the oven, (S2) allowing a virtual tracer component to generate at the exit of a specific flow route into the flowing field, (S3) obtaining a glass raw material inflow probability distribution from a concentration distribution obtained by solving an advection-diffusion equation related to a tracer component in the inhour direction, and (S4) specifying the position of the dissolution defect-generating source.
