PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an elastic conjugate filament excellent in flame retardance, weather resistance, surface characteristics, strength and recovery properties of elongation and useful for various industrial materials, etc., by composing the filament of a specific sheath-core type fiber. SOLUTION: This conjugate filament is a sheath-core type fiber comprising a sheath part and a core part composed of a polyester-based block copolymer comprising an aromatic dicarboxylic acid as a main acid component and an aliphatic and/or an alicyclic dihydroxy compound as a main glycol component and further having a low- melting polymer segment having 400-6,000 molecular weight. A flame retardant is compounded in a larger amount in the sheath part than that in the core part and the flame retardant is obtained by compounding (i) a phosphorus-based compound such as 1,3-[bis(2,6-dimethylphenoxy)phosphinyloxy]benzene in an amount of 0.1-20 pts.wt. (based on 100 pts.wt. of the total weight of the copolymer) with (ii) a triazine- based compound (derivative) in an amount of 0.5-30 pts.wt. (based on 100 pts.wt. of the total weight of the copolymer). The sheath-core type fiber has >=0.5 g/d breaking strength and the conjugate filament is a monofilament having >=200 denier fineness, >=80% breaking elongation and >=90% recovery percentage of elongation after 30% elongation at 80 deg.C.
