摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass melting furnace so designed that a melting tank, a working tank and a partition wall separating the respective atmosphere in both the tanks communicate with the outside air to prevent both the tanks from communicating with each other via the partition wall while maintaining the airtightness of the respective upper spaces in the tanks. SOLUTION: This glass melting furnace is so designed that, a partition wall 19 is made up of a bridging brick 18 with a draft hole 17, a bridge pier brick 13, and end bricks 14 set up on both ends of the partition wall in the cross direction for sealing purpose; the bridging brick 18 and the bridge pier brick 13 represent the sidewall 15 on the melting tank side and the sidewall 16 on the working tank side, respectively; as the furnace pressure in the upper space 4 of the melting tank rises temporarily due to the combustion exchange of the melting tank 1, the atmosphere in the upper space of the melting tank may leak via the joint on the melting furnace side between the bridging brick 18 and the bridge pier brick 13, however, leaked atmosphere, if any, issues via the draft hole 17 into the outside air, being not substantially allowed to flow, via the joint on the working tank side between the bridging brick 18 and the bridge pier brick 13, into the upper space 10 in the working tank.
