In a sealed headlamp unit the aperture at the rear of the reflector 1 in which the bulb 5 is mounted is closed by a removable cover 7 in sealed engagement with the reflector. The seal may comprise an inflatable member 20, situated between a flange 7b of the cover and an annulus defining the rear aperture of the reflector, or an 0-ring disposed between a pair of abutting flanges on the cover and reflector which are held together by clips. The unit when initially assembled may contain a particular atmosphere or air under reduced pressure, and a manually operable non-return valve may be provided in the cover so that the pressure differential can be destroyed before the cover is removed to replace the bulb. |
