An absorbent article such as a pantiliner, for example an elastic pantiliner, is provided for adhesive attachment to an undergarment. Adhesive is applied to a surface of the article only over a region at or adjacent the perimeter of the surface, the remainder of the surface being adhesive-free. Adhesive patterns which can be used include a strip around all or most of the perimeter (with or without a narrow adhesive-free gap adjacent the periphery itself), and a pair of parallel elongate strips on either side of an adhesive-free strip.
