PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnetic sintered body suitable for the movable iron core of an electron control type fuel injection equipment, the iron core of an electromagnetic pickup of a vehicle speed sensor or the like by allowing it to have a compsn. composed of specified weight ratios of C, Si, Mn, Ni, Cr, Mo, Cu, and the balance substantial Fe. SOLUTION: By regulating a compsn. composed of, by weight, <=0.10% C, <=3% Si, <=0.30% Mn, 36 to 60% Ni, 1 to 5% Cr, 0.1 to 6.0% Mo, 0.1 to <6.0 Cu, and the balance substantial Fe, a sintered body excellent in magnetic properties, electric properties, corrosion resistance or the like is obtd. The powder for the sintered body is preferably composed of, by weight, <=0.25% C, <=3% Si, <=0.30% Mn, 36 to 60% Ni, 1 to 5% Cr, 0.1 to 6.0% Mo, 0.1 to <6.0% Cu, and the balance substantial Fe. As for the powder, even in the case the content of C is >=0.10%, the C content reduces by CO reduction, decarburization or the like in the producing process of the sintered body, but, from the viewpoint of the dimensional stability of the sintered body, it is preferably controlled to <=0.25%.
