PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exterior coating method for an detached house preventing rainwater from infiltrating from the junction of a structure protruded from an outer wall and the outer wall. SOLUTION: A connection portion of an outer wall and a structure having a possibility of the infiltration of rainwater is selected in advance, and this connection portion is coated with a waterproof paint film material made of a rubbery elastic material over the outer wall and the structure regardless of the presence or absence of gaps and cracks. The connection portion having the possibility of the infiltration of rainwater is a junction 1 of a window frame and the outer wall or a connection section 3 of a door storage case and the outer wall, and the waterproof paint film material is applied to the frame material of the structure from the outer wall portion, thereby a continuous paint film is formed at the junction 1. Since the waterproof paint film material made of the rubbery elastic material is applied, it can follow the behavior of the junction 1. The waterproof paint film material may be used for substrate coating or finish coating.
