PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composite open sheet suitable for reinforcement for composite material by coalescing multifilament-open sheets in cross direction into a wide sheet which open sheets are obtained by untying multifilament in cross direction and arranging parallel with one another into a wide sheet. SOLUTION: This composite open sheet is obtained by the following procedure: a bundle of multifilament such as twistless carbon fibers or the like is made to flow at a given rate of overfeed state and an sucking air flow is passed through the bundle so as to untie the multifilament in cross direction and form a open sheet and a plurality of optional kinds of above mentioned opened sheets are paralleled and the composing filaments of adjacent opened sheets are mingled or coalesced into multi-layers so as to coalesce in parallel arrangement into a wide sheet and obtain the compound open sheet.
