PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve seizure resistance of a shoe member which is in sliding contact with a swash plate and connected to a plunger inserted into a cylinder bore of a cylinder block through a spherical joint, in a plunger assembly of an axial plunger type hydraulic unit. SOLUTION: A shoe member 6 is made of carbon fiber reinforced carbon compound. A ring 63 made of material having specific gravity exceeding that of the carbon fiber reinforced carbon compound is attached to an inner peripheral surface of an aperture 60a of a spherical recession 60 of the shoe member 6, in which a spherical projection 42 formed on a plunger 4 is inserted. Escape of the spherical projection 42 is thus prevented.
