PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joint for a drain pipe which prevents backflow of drainage to the lateral branch pipe side from an outflow port of a connecting part of a lateral branch pipe even when the bore of a vertical pipe part is small. SOLUTION: This joint has a vertical pipe part which is connected with vertical drain pipes 7 at the top and the bottom and constitutes a part of a vertical pipeline and a connecting part 2 of a lateral branch pipe which has an outflow port 21 of drainage to the vertical pipe part at one end and is connected with the lateral branch pipe at the other end. In this case, a projection 4a which deflects the direction of part of drainage flowing down to run over the outflow port 21, out of the drainage flowing down as a whirling flow into the vertical pipe part along the wall of the pipe from the upper vertical drain pipe 7, so as to prevent backflow of the drainage in the vertical pipe part into the connecting part 2 of the lateral branch pipe from the outflow port 21, is provided along the inner wall surface of the vertical pipe part.
