PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject lubricating oil excellent in compatibility with ammonia, scarcely affecting the disruption of ozonosphere or global warming and good in lubricity and stability by including polyethers represented by a specific formula as a principal component. SOLUTION: This lubricating oil is obtained by including polyethers represented by the formula, R1-[(OR2)m-OR3]n R1 is an n-valent group having an aromatic nucleus; R2 is a 2-6C polymethylene, a group in which one or more H atoms of the polymethylene are substituted with a 1-20C alkyl or a group in which one or more H atoms of the polymethylene are substituted with a group represented by the formula, R4-(OR5)p-OR6 [R4 is methylene or the like; R5 is a 2-6C polymethylene or the like; R6 is a 1-10C alkyl; (p) is 0-80]; R3 is a 1-10C alkyl; (n) is 1-6; (m) is a number so as to provide an average value of (m)×(n) with 3-80} as a principal component. The resultant lubricating oil is useful for an ammonia refrigerant used in a compression type refrigerator in an air conditioner, an electric refrigerator, etc. |
