PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an external tank roof from being forcibly deformed by supporting members when an internal tank roof hung down from the external tank roof is lowered. SOLUTION: When an internal tank roof 6 hung down from an external tank roof 4 through a number of support members 7 is lowered, the load acting on a number of hydraulic jacks 8 fitted between the outermost periphery of the internal tank roof 6 and the inside face of the external tank roof 4 is adjusted so as to keep the condition in which the hanging weight acts on the whole support members 7 and further, almost evenly acts on the total number of the support members and the hydraulic jacks 8. The support members 7 closer to the central part of the internal tank roof 6 are cut off first and then subsequently, the support members positioned at the outside are cut off one after another to lower the internal tank roof 6 by hydraulic jacks 8 and install it.
