PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate replacing operation of a cassette and a recording sheet contained integrally with a ribbon sheet by providing a space for retracting the sheet under recording in the cassette thereby inserting or ejecting the cassette from the front side of a printer. SOLUTION: A cassette 2 has a boxlike frame 6 in which a feed roll 7 applied with an ink ribbon and a roll 9 for winding a used ink ribbon are arranged, and a large number of recording sheets 11 are contained in a recording sheet containing section 12. A section 13 for temporarily retracting a sheet under recording is formed at the lower part of the recording sheet containing section 12 of the cassette 2. Furthermore, an opening facing a platen roller 14 is made in the upper surface of the frame 6 so that a carrying roller 33 on the printer 1 side can abut freely against the platen roller 14 at the time of loading a cassette. The space between the frame 6 and the upper housing 1a of the printer 1 serves as a paper discharging section 36 upon loading cassette.
