PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing chewing gum, capable of beautifully packaging the chewing gum to enhance the value of the product, capable of simplifying a process for producing the product, and capable of improving the efficiency of the work. SOLUTION: This method for producing chewing gum comprises kneading raw materials, extruding the kneaded product, rolling the extruded product, cutting the obtained plate-like dough having a prescribed thickness in a desired shape, and subsequently packaging the cut pieces. Therein, the improvement comprises cutting the plate-like dough having the prescribed thickness into long small pieces, aging and cooling the cut dough pieces to harden the pieces to a certain extent, further cutting each of the long pieces into plural smaller dough pieces having a prescribed shape in the direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction, and subsequently packaging the shaped dough pieces.
