PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase temperature and corrosion resistance of a honeycomb packing in use, and to reduce a packing leak. SOLUTION: This invention relates to a cooling system for a honeycomb packing 2 arranged in a support ring 4 having vertical 2, 2 and horizontal honeycomb openings. Consequently, by providing a cooling air groove 5 and a cooling hole 6 arranged in a tangential direction in the support ring 4 of the honeycomb packing 2, cooling air 7 is supplied uniformly from a ring space 8 in the outside to the honeycomb packing 2, and the air can come out through the opened honeycomb structure 2.2. In this way, strong cooling action of the honeycomb packing 2 receiving a thermal large load can be generated. Aggressive process gas is kept away from the honeycomb packing 2 to a considerable degree. Simultaneously, a stream of the cooling air 7 and a rotary blade leak flow 11 are crossed or directed in an opposite direction, so as to improve interrupting action of a rotary blade labyrinth packing.
