PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a crystal type oxotitanyl phthalocyanine capable of preparing a sensitive material free from the change in potential characteristics due to the change of environment and fine image defects, and an electrophotographic sensitized material and a method for preparing the same. SOLUTION: The objective crystal type oxotitanyl phthalocyanine shows at least four strong diffraction lines at the smaller angle side of not greater than 10 deg. and a strong diffraction line at 27.2 deg. as the Bragg angle (2θ±0.2 deg.) in the X-ray diffraction spectrum for the CuKαcharacteristic X-ray (having a wavelength of 1.5428Å) with the diffraction line showing the maximum peak intensity among the four strong diffraction lines being greater than the peak intensity of the diffraction line at 27.2 deg..
