PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a high supporting rigidity of an EGR cooler without depending on a bracket or the like and to rationalize the mounting space of the EGR cooler. SOLUTION: This exhaust gas recirculation system is equipped with an EGR passage 13 recirculating the exhaust of an engine to the intake side, an EGR valve 19 controlling the reflux rate, and an EGR cooler 14 cooling the recirculated gas, respectively. In this constitution, the EGR cooler 14 is horizontally assembled along the longitudinal direction of the engine on an exhaust manifold 10. Since the support of this EGR valve 19 is unnecessitated, the EGR valve 19 is integrally assembled to the EGR cooler 14.
