PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To locate a liquid leak from a tank or the like and grasp its scale and state easily by detecting it directly with reliability. SOLUTION: A liquid leak detector 1 for detecting liquid leaks from a tank or the like comprises a liquid measure 11 held at an upper position for later downward movement therefrom on receiving leakage liquid via a guide passage 9, and a detector means or contact switch 8 for detecting movement of a weight part 10 that is set at the one side of a balance member 7 to the liquid measure 11 so as to move according to the movement of the liquid measure 11.
