摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject defoaming unit so designed as to embed chromium- based refractory bricks in the inside of the brick layer representing the inner surface of a tube channel subject to contact with molten glass to prevent the deterioration of glass quality and the breakage of the defoaming unit. SOLUTION: This molten glass defoaming unit is so designed that, when the erosion of the inner surface of brick layer representing a tube channel is slight and dense chromium-based refractory bricks 40, 42 embedded inside the brick layer are not in contact with molten glass, or even if in contact, the contact surface area is small, a molten glass coloration cannot be visually confirmed due to the minute leaching level of chromium oxide, therefore the extent of the above erosion can be understood by glass component analysis; in contrast, when the erosion is advanced and the contact surface area between the bricks 40, 42 and the molten glass becomes larger, the leaching level of chromium oxide also becomes higher and the molten glass sets further greened, and the green color can be recognized visually; therefore the extent of the erosion inside the tube channel can be easily understood and the service life of the defoaming unit itself estimated as well because of the change in the chromium oxide content of the molten glass according to the extent of the erosion.
