PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably obtain a product of good surface quality and good inside quality economically by hot rolling a stainless steel composed of specific components, wherein Creg, Nieg andδ% are specific values, uncared. SOLUTION: Components of a stainless steel are at weight %, 0.2% or less C, 0.1-2% Si, 0.3-3% Mn, 0.04% or less P, 15-30% Cr, 3-30% Ni, 0.01-0.4% N, 0.005% or less S, 0.007% or less O, 0.02% or less Al, and the rest is Fe and an inevitable impurity. Also,δto be calculated by formula I, II, III is 7% or more. This continuous cost piece of stainless steel being continuously cast is hot rolled under an uncared condition. After a breakdown rolling at rolling ratio of 30-65% is carried out, the steel is heated again being uncared for carrying a finish rolling. Heating temperatures of the breakdown rolling and the finish rolling are respectively made to be 1,000-1,270 deg.C, 1,000-1,270 deg.C.
