PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a caisson type pile excavator that can optionally change an excavated bore in the case of excavating a vertical hole with a relatively large excavated bore, and to provide a caisson type pile excavating construction method. SOLUTION: A guide rod is erected in the ground. A caisson type pile excavator 4 is provided with a fixing device 10 and an excavating device 30. The fixing device 10 is provided with a chucking device 14 at the guide rod 3, and supporting devices 11 extensible toward the inner peripheral wall of an excavated vertical hole. The excavating device 30 is connected to the fixing device 10 and turnable around the guide rod 3. The excavating device 30 is provided with an excavating tool 39 at a base frame 31 through a boom 37 and an arm 8 so as to be rotatable in the radial direction of the excavated vertical hole.
