PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treating method for desulfurizing molten iron in high efficiency by using a flux consisting essentially of metallic magnesium and lime. SOLUTION: In the method for executing the desulfurization of the molten iron by using the flux consisting essentially of the metallic magnesium and the lime, firstly, the flux is injected together with a carrier gas into the molten iron to execute the primary desulfurization. Successively, the secondary desulfurization of blowing only the carrier gas into the molten iron is executed, and then, while preventing resulfurization, the molten iron is desulfurized in a high reaction efficiency.
