PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a glycogen compsn. excellent in dispersibility in an aq. medium by compounding glycogen with a water-soluble ionic surfactant. SOLUTION: As glycogen, an odorless, white to slightly yellowish white plant-drived glycogen (phytoglycogen), such as prepd. from corn, is pref. in terms of easiness of purification and the odor or color of a purified product. Any water-soluble ionic surfactant can essentially be used in combination with glycogen. As anionic surfactants are listed carboxylates (e.g. a soap, i.e., an alkali metal salt of a higher fatty acid), sulfuric ester salts (e.g. a salt of a higher alcohol sulfuric ester or of a higher alkyl ether sulfuric ester), and sulfonates (e.g. an alkylbenzenesulfonate or an alkylnaphthalenesulfonate). As cationic surfactants are listed amine salt types and quaternary ammonium salt types.
