摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve shock absorbing performance, to absorb the shock energy to the head of an occupant at the time of an automobile collision and to reduce a head injury value by arranging recesses on at least one plate face of a plate- like shock absorber made of hard polyurethane having the compressive stress of a specific value or above. SOLUTION: Recesses 3 having a rectangular shape on the plan view are arranged in parallel in the longitudinal direction of a plate-like body 2 on one plate face of the plate-like body 2 made of hard polyurethane foam to form this shock absorber 1. Wall-like sections 4 between adjacent recesses 3, 3 are broken by a shock, and the broken portions enter the recesses 3 to obtain good shock absorbing performance. The constituting material is hard polyurethane foam having the compressive stress >= kg/cm2. If the compressive stress is below this value, the strength of the wall-like sections 4 between adjacent recesses 3 is lacking, and sufficient shock absorbing performance cannot be obtained in the initial stage of the collision. The shock absorbing performance is good, the shock energy applied to the head of an occupant in a vehicle room is absorbed at the time of the automobile collision, and the head injury value can be reduced.
