PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To selectively cut half only a laminate type tape in a tape-printing apparatus which can print on both laminate type tapes and non-laminate type tapes. SOLUTION: When a print key is input (S8: YES), a signal indicating an up, a down positions of a movable projection part from a detection part is read (S10), based on which it is judged which of a cassette storing a non- laminate tape that cannot be cut half and a cassette storing a laminate tape that can be cut half is loaded (S11). When it is judged that the cassette storing the non-laminate tape is loaded (S11: YES), a half cut flag is turned off and a half cut part is prohibited from operating (S12).
