PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently remove a silica in a water to be treated and to recover desalting performance by passing an alkaline liq. through a concentrating chamber or an electrode chamber and washing a device. SOLUTION: A desalting chamber in which an ion exchange body such as ion exchange resin and ion exchange fiber is filled in an electric deionized water production device 1, and a concentrating chamber is provided by dividing by interposing the desalting chamber and an ion exchange membrane, and a pair of electrodes applying voltage to these desalting chamber and the concentrating chamber is provided. An operation of such an electric deionized water production device 1 is once stopped, and the alkaline liq. is injected into the desalting chamber, the concentrating chamber and the electrode chamber of the device 1 from a liquid chemicals injection piping 4a and the device is washed simultaneously. In this way, the silica in the water to be treated is efficiently removed and the desalting performance is recovered.
