PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit efficient ironing by increasing the capacity of a tank without changing the appearance and size of an iron and to enhance the effect on finishing of clothing by surely stopping steam. SOLUTION: When a vaporization chamber 22 formed in a base 19 is heated to water vaporization temperature, a water conduit 44 is opened by a heat- reactive opening/closing device 38 to supply water in a tank 23 into the vaporization chamber 22 by means of a pump device 24 to generate steam. A water guide 29 guiding water in the tank 23 into the vaporization chamber 22 is mounted on the base 19 by a water conduit mounting plate 42, and a water conduit packing 43 is interposed between the water conduit mounting plate 42 and the water guide 29 so that the water conduit 44 is formed by the water conduit packing 43 and the water guide 29. A check valve 51 closing the discharge opening 25 of the pump device 24 is formed integrally with the water conduit packing 43.
