摘要 A method and apparatus for measuring the flow rate of a medium flowing through a channel, which medium may be a gas or a liquid, comprise the provision inside the channel of a number of measurement sites along which the medium flows continuously at different velocities. The flow of the medium is measured at a number of measurement sites, the flow measurement comprising heating of the medium at the measurement site and measurement of the temperature change at the measurement site as a result of the heating. A rule is established beforehand wherein calibration information is processed for the flow measurement for each measurement site. The calibration information for the predetermined rule comprises, for each measurement site, information about the measurement accuracy over the measurement range of the measurement site. The flow rate to be measured is established on the basis of the measurement result of a measurement site which gives the greatest measurement accuracy according to the predetermined rule. In particular, measurement of the flow at a measurement site comprises heating the medium during a first interval and, during a second interval which follows the first interval, monitoring a temperature reduction at the measurement site. The flow rate is established on the basis of the temperature reduction. The apparatus comprises no moving components.
