PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism turning a suction tool by 90 deg. in the right and left directions via a simple twisting action, to reduce noise and to reduce the number of part items. SOLUTION: This vacuum cleaner is provided with a dust chamber 3 with a lower opening 4, a suction port 9 sucking the atmospheric air containing dust in the dust chamber 3, a main joint section 5 with a joint and a driven joint section 6 near the suction port 9, a connecting pipe 7 at the tip section of the driven joint section 6, and a joint pipe 8 made of a flexible material and connecting the suction port 9 and the connecting pipe 7 in the main joint section and the driven joint section 6. When the connecting pipe 7 is twisted in the right and left directions, a suction tool is turned by 90 deg. in the right and left directions, the dust near the wall of a room or the dust in a narrow gap between pieces of furniture can be cleaned via a simple twisting action, and the operability is good. The joint pipe 8 is flexible and is gradually bent, the wind passage is not bent narrowly, the whistling sound can be reduced, the structure is simple, and the number of part items is reduced.
