PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably obtain an inexpensive plant-derived mineral salt by ashing an ash-rich plant followed by subjecting the resultant ash to extraction with seawater and/or seawater-derived aqueous solvent. SOLUTION: This plant-derived mineral salt is obtained by ashing a plant with an ash content of 15-30 wt.% pref. at 800-900 deg.C for 3-4 h followed by subjecting the resulting ash to extraction with seawater and/or seawater-derived aqueous solvent pref. at room temperature and pH 6-8. The ash-rich plant to be used is pref. Shorea robusta, red algae, brown algae, or the like. In the above process, the liquid extract as a result of extraction with seawater or the like is, for example, subjected to filtration followed by concentration under reduced pressures and then boiling down to afford the objective product, which contains mineral salts such as of magnesium other than potassium at several to several hundred times compared to ordinary commercial common salt, but is half the sodium content of the common salt. |
