<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new antibody, a polyclonal or monoclonal antibody to a protein or polypeptide partly or wholly containing amino acids with carboxyethylated amino groups on the respective side chains, useful in e.g. detecting diabetic complications. SOLUTION: This new antibody is a polyclonal or monoclonal antibody to a protein or polypeptide partly or wholly containing amino acids with carboxyethylated amino groups on the respective side chains, useful in e.g. detecting diabetic complications such as diabetic fine vessel complications and/or diabetic great vessel complications. This polyclonal antibody is obtained by administering e.g. rabbits with an antigen consisting of a protein or polypeptide with carboxyethylated amino groups on the side chains to immunize the rabbits followed by blood collection to afford antiserum, from which the aimed polyclonal antibody is separated and purified; while the monoclonal antibody is obtained by the following procedure: the above-mentioned antigen is administered to e.g. mice to immunize the mice followed by collecting the aimed antibody-productive cells, which, in turn, are fused with myeloma cells to afford hybridoma, which is then cloned and subsequently cultured.</p> |
