SOLUTION: A guide rail 15 arranged in an elevator shaft 1 is provided outside an elevator 5 in such a manner that the top is lower than the ceiling of the elevator 5 at the highest floor and a driver 3 longer in the cross direction of a balancing weight 9 for the elevator is installed on a mount fixed to the top of the guide rail 15.
