PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet folding device capable of mechanically folding sheets, even having a large area and a more thickness to be cleanly inserted at a regular folding position. SOLUTION: In a sheet folding device wherein sheets W are pushed at their folding positions between a pair of gripping rolls 24, 25 by a push-in device 31 to undergo insertion in two-folded conditions, a swing conveyor 26A is provided at the position of the sheets pushed by the push-in device 31 to transfer the sheets W at their precedence sides and, when the folding position of the sheets W arrives at the sheet push-in position, the swing conveyor 26A is tilted to a sheet push-in side by a swing operating device 28 to previously insert the sheets at their folding position in priority to push-in operation of the push-in device 31.
