PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit efficient washing of an ink shifting roll, a plate cylinder or the like on a printing press or out of the printing press without depending on the hand of man, in a washing roll for the printing press. SOLUTION: A washing roll is equipped with a cylindrical elastic layer 6 and a multitude of brush hair type projected parts 7,..., projectingly provided on the outer peripheral surface of the elastic layer 6. A multitude of fine holes are formed on the outer peripheral surface of the elastic layer 6. The average length of the brush hair type projected parts 7 is specified so as to be 0.1-2.0 mm. In this case, the brush hair type projected parts 7 are constituted of fiber and the size of the fiber is specified so as to be 2-9 denier.
