FIELD: preparation of difficultly soluble metal hydroxides, more particularly compounds of formula M(x)(OH)x, wherein M is metal from group of cobalt, zinc, nickel and/or copper and X is metal valency. SUBSTANCE: method comprises reacting reactive hydroxide of one or more metals from said group with complexing agent and alkali metal salt and subsequently reacting the resulting metal- caustic lye salt complex at pH higher than 7.
