PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aromatic carboxylic acid, capable of starting up oxidation reaction by using small volume of feed power facility and using small electric power and efficiently carrying out reaction by recovering energy after starting up. SOLUTION: In this method for producing an aromatic carboxylic acid by carrying out liquid phase oxidation of an alkyl-aromatic compound in a reactor 1, a steam turbine 4 for obtaining torque by steam generated in a condenser 3, a generator 5 used also as an electric motor, a compressor 6 for feeding air to the reactor 1 and a rotating shaft of an expander 7 for obtaining torque by discharge gas are connected and electricity is fed to the generator 5 to rotate the compressor 6 and air pressurized by the rotation is heated and the air is expanded by the expander 7 to obtain torque and a part of pressurized air is fed to the reactor 1 to start oxidation reaction and after starting reaction, the discharge gas is introduced into the expander 7 to obtain the torque and feed of electricity to the generator is stopped and simultaneously power generation is carried out. |
