PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for supporting a workpiece having an inner diameter part to be machined into a complete circle by turning, to a rotating head of a machine tool without causing mechanical distortion to the inner diameter part or changing support parts due to the change of a workpiece type. SOLUTION: A workpiece supporting device for centering a workpiece 1 by a centering jig 12 to position and fix the workpiece 1 to the tip face center seat face (m) of a rotating head 10 has a clamping pawl 20 installed at the tip face peripheral part of the rotating head 10 movably in the axial direction of the rotating head 10 and rotatably in the orthogonal direction to the axial direction. When the workpiece 1 is centered to the rotating head 10, the clamping pawl 20 is rotated inward while being moved backward, and the front end face (n) of the workpiece 1 is pressed toward the seat face (m) by the tip part 20b of the clamping pawl 20 to fix the workpiece 1 to the seat face (m) by this pressing force.
