PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chain type power transmission device for properly reducing slide resistance between a chain and a chain guide. SOLUTION: In a chain type power transmission device 10, a chain 11 is equipped with inner and outer side link plates 12, and circular arc state recesses 13 having radius of curvature R1 are provided on the slide side surface with a chain guide 55 in the link plate 12. The radius of curvature R1 of the recesses 13 is set so that the relation with the radius of curvature Rg1 of a slide surface 55a after the deformation of the chain guide 55 can be R1<=Rg1, and the depth h1 of the recesses 13 is set so that the relation with the height hg1 of the slide surface 55a after the deformation of the chain guide 55 can be h1<=hg1.
