摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which can be easily and practically carried out at a low cost to impart high water repellency, oil repellency, low fluid resistance, rust preventing property, contamination preventing property, antireflection property, and low friction resistance to the surface of a glass to a fully satisfying degree. SOLUTION: A treating liquid containing polymn. condensates of metal alkoxides, metal oxide fine particles and silane compd. having fluoroalkyl groups or alkyl groups is applied on the surface of a glass, then dried and heated to form a porous metal oxide compd. layer 2 on the surface of the glass 1. The obtd. metal oxide compd. layer 2 has aggregation of metal oxide fine particles 5 fixed in the metal oxide matrix 6. The layer 2 has a fine rugged structure 4 on its surface where fluoroalkyl groups or alkyl groups having water repellency are exposed and has lots of pores 3 opened on the surface.
