PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suction system for the outboard motor with larger capacity of the silencer. SOLUTION: In this outboard motor, the crank shaft is provided in the engine, and the crankshaft end is projected outside the engine. At this projected portion, a rotational member is provided which is covered with an engine cover 19. The periphery of the engine is covered with an outboard motor cover 9 with an outside air inlet 26. The engine cover 19 is made to have a closed cross section structure and a space 27 is formed inside thereof. A silencer 21 that constitutes the suction system is connected to the engine cover 19, and an air passage 31 is formed by communicating the space 27 in the engine cover 19 and inside of the silencer 21. In this air passage 31, an inlet port 28 is formed that communicates to the outboard motor cover 9.
