PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently produce an artificial rock forming a complex shape. SOLUTION: A thermoplastic material which is cured at a normal temperature and becomes an elastic deformable formwork 3, is brought into contact with a rock becoming the origin of transcription, in such a state that the thermoplastic material is heated and molten. In such a stage that the thermoplastic material is cured and the thin-walled and bag-shaped formwork 3 has been formed, the formwork 3 is released from rock by utilizing elastic deformation thereof. After the formwork 3 is held in a constant shape by a shape retaining means 4 such as sand, concrete 6 or the like is placed and hardened. Thereby, an artificial rock keeping a shape corresponding to the rock is obtained.
