PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to efficiently speak by improving the convenience of a hand set at telephone terminal equipment provided with a plurality of hand sets. SOLUTION: Terminal equipment 8 is provided with the plurality of hand sets 8-1-1 and 8-1-2 and at least one of buttons 8-4-1 to 8-4-P for performing the operation of call originating or call incoming response and connected through a line having channels corresponding to the number of hand sets 8-1-1 and 8-1-2 to a telephone exchange device. In this case, this equipment is provided with a storage device for storing hand set mode information determining the use priority of the plurality of hand sets 8-1-1 and 8-1-2 and a controller for selecting any idle one of hand sets according to the hand set mode information upon recognizing the request of call originating or call incoming response and for performing call connection control based on the request of that call originating or call incoming response.
