PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the cooling effect of the upper part of a cylinder liner of internal combustion engine using a simple structure. SOLUTION: A cooling water passage 5 is installed between the outside surface of a cylinder liner 4 and a crank case 1, to the passage 5 a cooling water is fed and is discharged from a cooling water discharge passage 10 provided in the upper part of the crank case 1. In this cooling arrangement, part of the upper peripheral surface of the cylinder liner 4 is bulged in a mild angle form toward the crank case 1, and the passage 5 is equipped with a restriction part 5a between the bulge 11 and crank case 1.
