PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium recorded with genuine merchandise display image projection data which allows the easy decision of whether illicit copy merchandise or genuine merchandise and makes forgery extremely difficult and an authenticity discriminating device for merchandize, etc. SOLUTION: Hologram patterns are previously recorded as a CGH(computer generated hologram) 13a so as to project the prescribed image 14a indicating that the transmitted diffracted light or reflected diffracted light of a monochromatic ray is the genuine merchandise when irradiated with this monochromatic ray. Another hologram pattern is so previously recorded as a CGH 13b as to project an associated and prescribed image 14b. At the time of inspection, whether the prescribed images 14a, 14b are reconstructed or not is visually checked by irradiating these CGHs 13a, 13b with the monochromatic light. The discrimination of authenticity by receiving the reconstructed image from the one CGH 13b and subjecting the image to pattern recognition is possible as well.
