PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily reset a node device at a distant place without requiring any etra hardware and without wasting line resources or increasing communication costs. SOLUTION: A controller 30, which recognizes the occurrence of any fault at a node device 10-3, sends out a cell issue instruction to a node device 10-2, for example, between node devices 10-2 and 10-4 adjacent to the node device 10-3. By receiving this cell issue instruction, the node device 10-2 sends out a cell 70 for reset, for which header information for reset is added to a header part, to the downstream side node device 10-3 at the place of fault occurrence. By receiving the cell 70 for reset, the node device 10-3 performs the hardware reset of its own CPU.
